Grade 2
Art: “My Favorite New York Food and Where It Comes From”
A painting or color drawing on 8 1/2” by 11” paper with a four-sentence
paragraph on the theme. This contest highlights second grade AITC materials
that emphasize the initial sources of foods.

1st Place - Danae Floyd, Buffalo, NY
I like bacon because it tastes good. Bacon comes from pigs. You can eat it with your breakfast. Did you know beakfast is the most important meal of the day. It keeps you healthy.
2nd Place - Katianna Condé, Rochester, NY
This is corn. I like corn fritters, cornbread, corn tortillas, and corn on the cob.
3rd Place - Casey Malzahn, Cuddebackville, NY
Corn is my favorite food. Corn comes from a stalk and it comes out of the ground. Sometimes my Mom makes corn on the cob. My Poppy was a farmer. Other people eat corn and I do too.
Honorable Mention - Brett Holland, Barker, NY
My favorite New York food is grapes. I like grapes because you can make juice from grapes. You can find some grapes in Barker, New York. That's why they're my favorite New York food!

My favorite New York food is ice cream. My favorite ice cream flavor is vanilla. Ice cream is from the milk from a dairy cow. It tastes cold and yummy.
