My Life on a Farm

I like to milk the cows at morning and night.
Seeing me in my barn clothes is quite a sight.
I like to feed the calves after school.
Bouncing black and white calves are so cool.
I like seeing the cows and horses in the cool green grass.
It is much more fun than sitting in class.
I like living with my family on a farm.
Even when I hear the early morning ring of my alarm.
Cows are great they make cheese, yogurt, milk, and ice cream.
A big Hot Fudge Sundae is every kid's dream.
Agriculture can give us many things
Remember all the food and supplies it brings.

NYS Agriculture

In New York State I was born.
We grow a lot of apples, grapes, and corn.
Like many people know, corn grows on stalks.
It grows almost as fast as my little brother talks!
Another thing that everyone knows is that grapes grow on vines.
Most of them go to making our country's best wines.
One thing that helps to grow our great grapes,
Is that they all grow by our largest lakes.
There are many types of apples, all of them great,
One kind is called Empire, just like our state.
The apples are harvested in the fall.
Candy apples and cider can be enjoyed by all!
Many people don't know how
We can get so much from our state's cows.
They make our yogurt, milk, and cheese,
Which are healthy things that are sure to please.
As anyone can see, our state grows a ton,
Just about every food under the sun!

A Poem about Wine

My family owns a farm that's full of vines,
We make it into lots and lots of wine.
We called our friends to come help pick the grapes,
The grapes came out in different colors and shapes.
Some people snipped them;
Some people clipped them.
We had to pluck it,
Then put it into a bucket.
The adults put some grapes aside for the children to stomp in,
The adults put some grapes aside for the children to clomp in.
"If you use your feet,
The grapes will turn out sweet!"
That made a mess,
Then we had to use a press.
The grapes got strained,
My uncle's shirt got stained.
We had to use yeast,
To celebrate we all had a feast!

Farmers are almost always busy
I think they must get pretty dizzy.
In the spring they plow the ground
The seeds they plant grow without a sound.
When they're ready in the fall,
farmers harvest them and get them all.
He gathers the eggs from all the hens
Who are walking around in their pens.
He makes food for people in the town,
He never lets the people down.

Making New York Great

Sweet corn, field corn, apples, and grapes,
These are things making New York great.
Turkeys, chickens, and the eggs they lay,
Beef, pork, lamb, garden plants, and hay.
Cabbage, onion, potatoes, please,
Oats, wheat, soybeans, and Christmas Trees!
Milk, ice cream, and vanilla shakes,
My favorite is the syrup on pancakes!
