A view of the garden
You can see how productive the space is with all plants in Earthboxes™.
The Earthbox™ system uses a cover that eliminates weeding and reduces water use. The Scranton garden had an automatic watering system.

Special Garden Features:
This garden in a public park in Scranton serves as a demonstration Earthbox™ garden for ‘The Growing Connection’ program. It is maintained by an afterschool program and the students sell produce, flowers, and Earthboxes™. The garden is supported by the company that makes Earthboxes™. (www.earthbox.com) The Growing Connection is a pilot partnership project of The Food & Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the American Horticultural Society (AHS). School children in Ghana, Mexico, Nicaragua and the United States, with their families, teachers, agriculturalists, scientists, and businesses are joining The Growing Connection to grow fresh food, to learn the science of growing food, and to lead the fight against hunger and malnutrition at home and around the world.
