We visited Fran’s garden at PS 205 on a rainy day, but were still impressed!

Several KGF teachers met at Fran’s garden on a Saturday in early October for a networking session.

Yes, that is a banana! A tropical garden in Queens!
Also, pumpkins, tomatoes, and more.

Not just a banana, but taro too! I thought I was back in Hawaii.
There is also a raised strawberry bed.

Fran teaches K-5 science and has a fascinating classroom with grow light set up.

‘Food with Moods’ display in the hallway. Student work is displayed all over the school.

This is an outdoor, waterproof ‘word wall’ that helps students write while they are in the garden.

Student writing is displayed throughout the hallways and is a focus in this school.
We were all impressed with the quality of the work.

Special Garden Features:
Multiple Gardens – Fran has multiple gardens around the school. Besides the food gardens there are several ornamental gardens.
Curriculum Integration – Fran is a whiz at curriculum integration and creativity with the garden. She focuses on writing and science.
